  • Proclamation of 1763 - Since there were a lot of conflicts between colonists and Natives over land in the west and on. British officials decided that it would be best if colonists stayed away from the west. So they prohibited and advised people to stay away from expanding settlements past the Appalachian Mountains.

  • Sugar and Stamp Act - The British passed laws that state that colonists must now pay a tax for sugar, legal documents, newspapers, and even playing cards. Taxes were unheard of in the colonies. Colonists were enraged.

  • Townshend Act - The Townshend Act was when the British parliament passed taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. This caused outrag between the colonists.

  • Boston Massacre - A conflict broke out in Boston on March 5, 1770 ending with several people dead. Colonist were rioting against the British and the British soldiers shot and killed some of the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party - Colonists dumped hundreds of crates owned by the British East India Company into the Boston Harbor to protest the British tax on tea.
