I'd like to create a system where computers can share information with each other.
1978
I've made a program that can contain a file and send it through a network
1989
I created a proper system that can send files back and forth
After graduating from Oxford University and designing computer software for two years, Tim Berners-Lee decided that he wanted to make a system that could send information from one computer to another
2004
He created the first form of a link. He created a program that could hold a file and send it through a network to another computer. He wanted to create a system where researchers could share their studies and practices.
2006
He finished the system after more than ten years. People no longer had to email everything back and forth. Instead, people would upload information online where anyone can view it. 2 years later he created the first browser that could search for certain files.

In 2004 Queen Elizabeth II awarded Tim Berners-Lee was awarded with knighthood for creating the internet and revolutionizing technology. He was awarded with many other achievements as well.
I am humbled by this great honor
In the earlier 2000s many more people started using the internet and many more search engines and companies were profiting off of the internet. Internet speeds were very slow and the internet wasn't always reliable.
Do you know how many ounces are in one gallon?

As technology continues to advance, the internet becomes more accessible and easier and quicker to use. Ie. portable phones, better WIFI, mobile data, etc.the internet has become a place that millions of people visit everyday. people use the internet to learn, have fun, do jobs, meet people and so much more.
