Storyboard Text

  • The 250 Spanish conquistadors made this estuary their campsite. They were aliens in this unknown place. In order to survive, they traded weapons with the Native Americans and ate wild horses.
  • The Spanish conquistadors began to have conflict with the Native Americans. Cabeza de Vaca was the leader of the Spanish. Him and his men built rafts to take them to safety.
  • The men embarked on an eight year journey that would take them around the whole continent. Many of the men would die due to hunger and rough wave conditions.
  • Cabeza and his men adapted to their new life after landing on a shore of Texas. They respected the Natives and acted as slaves for food. They were well protected and got to explore America and Mexico.
  • Cabeza was separated from his men. While they were continuing to adapt to life he was stranded by himself for five days. But he made it back safely to the Natives and his fellow men.
  • Cabeza made it back to Spain after having a reinvention of himself and his companions in America. They learned to accept one another and that they could all speak Spanish. Cabeza told the tales of human colonization and reminisced on his adventures.
