- "The bear had been their undoing, though at the time they had all laughed." This is man vs. nature because Lyddie and her family are attacked by the bear in her cabin which shows conflict between man and nature. (pg.1)
- "I can't stop you to go, Lyddie said, but I can't go with you. I can't leave the farm." This shows conflict between two characters which portrays man vs. man because she was arguing with her mom because her mom wanted to leave the farm. (pg.6)
- " Its a lot of money, I'd be tempted if I were you". Lyddie has to make a decision to either turn Ezekiel in for reward money or leave him be, which causes struggle between herself but ends up not turning him in because they have a connection. (pg.42)
