- Off the Salinas River in California two migrant workers George and Lennie travel to a ranch for work. After leaving a previous job because Lennie grabbed a woman by her dress.
- Candy discovers Curley's wife and they make a plan to make it look like George wasn't in on killing her
- Lennie and George are friends. However , Lennie is developmentally disabled, and because of his childlike mentality, the two friends often find themselves in trouble.
- Curley immediately dislikes Lennie and picks on him. . he doesn't trust them. he thinks something is odd about them.
- Curleys wife tries to tell Lennie to stop stroking her hair but after scaring him,Lennie ends up breaking her neck, resulting in killing her.
- I did a real bad thing.. George is gonna be mad.
- Lennie was told my George to meet him by the river if anything bad happens so George could meet him there. Lennie runs away to the bushes
- George had to kill Lennie himself so that he wouldn't suffer from Curley's revenge. So George had Lennie think of the farm they would live on before he got shot.
