- In 1775, the Olive Branch Petition was the last chance for the colonies to restore Peace with Britain. The King rejected it and sent the British Navy to block American ships from leaving ports.
- The battle took place in October 1777 in Virginia. It was the first major battle won by Americans and later gained attention from European Nations.
- France begins to give secret aid to the Americans in 1777 and later convinces Spain to help as well. They provide food, supplies, troops, and military experience. as well as leadership.
