- "'You're right. And I could just inhale the whole thing!'"
- "'We better take it slow on that stew. Remember the first night on the train? The rich food made me sick and I wasn't even starving then'".
- "'You and me and Haymitch. Very cozy. Picnics, birthdays, long winter nights around the fire retelling old Hunger Games’ tales'".
- "That’s right. If we win, we’ll each get a house in the part of town reserved for Hunger Games’ victors".
- "'He outsmarted the others'".
- "Maybe he wasn't always a drunk. Maybe, in the beginning, he tried to help the tributes".
- "I give a noncommittal shrug and cup my elbows in my hands, hugging them close to my body".
- There has been a parachute with food that came down to Katniss and Peeta. Katniss is desperate of eating the food because she's so hungry, but Peeta is trying to convince her that she should take time on eating the food so they wont get sick. Deep down she know he's right, but she's still mad.
- "'But this means we're one step closer to District Twelve'".
- Katniss and Peeta are laying down together talking about what would happen if they win the Game, and how the love that Peeta has for Katniss was long lasting.
- "The strong fatty cheese tastes just like the kind Prim makes, the apples are sweet and crunchy".
- Suddenly a thought came to Katniss she wondered how Haymitch became the winner of one of The Hunger Games. Katniss started thinking of how good of a person Haymitch was back then and how he is now.
- "For some reason, i badly want it to be my moon, the same one I see from the woods around District 12. That would give me something to cling to in the surreal world".
- Unexpectedly a cannon was shot indicating that a tribute has died, that tribute was Thresh. Katniss is sad but she has to hide her pain about the situation so they don't think she's weak. She's sad because just incase they didnt win she would want Thresh to because he had helped saved her. It's only Cato and Foxface remain in the game now.
- They both sleep in shifts, While Peeta was watching out he wakes up Katniss to food she was happy she started taking huge bites off the foods.
- Katniss looks at the sky and saw a full moon she started thinking if she has gone from District 12 for a whole month or is it that the moon is just playing tricks on her. Eventually she started feeling homesick. Katniss thinks that Peeta and her will probably not be more than friends.
