- Mom I want to go to the snack bar 4 floors down, but the elevator is 6 floors up from the snack bar. So what should I do?
- You didn't learn how to add and subtract?
- Well let me teach you.
- Since we are in the elevator let's talk about how you can subtract integers. First lets say we were on the 5th floor and you needed to go to the basement. You would have to subtract 5-6=-1 and that's where the basement is.
- Ya I was just about to show you, come on!
- Oh okay now I know how to subtract integers, but what about subtraction?
- So now if we got 2 snacks and someone gave us 4 more snacks , we have to add because we are gaining something so you will have to add 4 plus 6 which is 10.
- So we have 10 snacks. Okay but while you were teaching me that I was wondering how do you divide and multiply integers?
- Now if we have 6 burgers and each burger is $4 each, what do you think that we have to do?
- Okay that's not hard, you have to do is 4x6 which is 24 so the answer is $24! Now I'm starting to get the hang of integers!!!!
- If bob has 6 apples and he wants to distribute them with 2 of his friends equally how much will each of them have? So this is division so you have to divide 6 by 2 and you will get 2. So bob and both of his friends will both get 2 apples.
- Now I get everything mom thanks for telling me. This is so easy now Thank you so much mom
