- Grendel, a big ugly giant, that was a descendent of cain, Lived in a swamp next to the lake of monsters. The loud partying noises coming from the mead hall made Grendel angry. He then goes ona killing spree every night killing Danes, tearing them limb from limb; He killed 30 men.
- After hearing about Gredel's violence on the Herot, Beowulf agrees to travel by boat to the Danish shore, His plan was to gain fame by helping King Hrothgar.Beowulf arrives and expects to fight grendel.
- As grendel had dome night after night, Grendel entered the Herot and began eating the soldiers that were asleep. Frendel and Beowulf began fighting in the mead hall. The battle was over when beowulf grabbed Grendel's arm and ripped it off his body.
