Storyboard Text

  • The story begins in Herot, the mead hall in which Hrothgar, the Danish king's, men are asleep after celebration. Disturbed with Hrothgar and his men's presence Grendel, a monster descendent of Cain, plots to massacare the crowd. As they're sleeping Grendel sneaks through the night into Herot and brutally kills many of the men in their sleep...this reign of terror continues for twelve years until a hero learns of Grendel's actions.
  • THE WRATH OF GRENDEL
  • The hero Beowulf, after hearing of Grendel's violence, travels to Denmark and announces to Hrothgar he's come to kill Grendel. Beowulf boasts to Hrothgar and lets the king know of his previous success in defeating foes. Weary but willing the king agress and offers riches to Beowulf in return. Beowulf and his thirteen men then head towards the danger: the mead hall that Grendel still plagues.
  • THE COMING OF BEOWULF
  • Beowulf's men are sleeping in the mead hall, but Beowulf lies awake waiting for Grendel. When the monster goes to eat Beowulf the hero takes a hold of Grendel's fist and crushes it, beginning their battle. Beowulf finds that Grendel is immune to the blade of a sword so he continues his fight with his hands...eventually tearing the monster limb from limb, thus ending Grendel's terror.
  • THE BATTLE WITH GRENDEL
  • THE BATTLE WITHGRENDELS MOTHER
  • Beowulf moves on with his quest to rid Hrothgar's kingdom of monsters by diving into the bottom of a lake to defeat Grendel's mother. She drags Beowulf from the bottom of the lake and into her lair, angrily attempting to maul him through his armor. Beowulf battles the monster with his bare hands after finding she is also immune to his blade. Beowulf finds a sword hanging on her wall and decapitates her head with it, then swimming to chop the head from Grendel's dead body.
  • THE BATTLE WITHGRENDELS MOTHER
  • Beowulf then brings Grendel's severed head to the surface and takes it to Hrothgar's castle, proving his triumph. Beowulf gain the fame he sought and heads back to his home with his Geats, where he eventually becomes the king of Geatland.
  • THE LAST BATTLE
  • Years later anow elderly Beowulf faces his final opponent: a greed-stricken dragon terrorizing Geatland. Beowulf is injured by the dragon and still attempting to battle it, none of his men come to help except Wiglaf, his cousin who defeats the dragon by his side. Wiglaf gathers the treasure the dragon was hoarding and goes to Beowulf, heeding his dying wishes: to take over the role of king and build a tower in Beowulf's name. Wiglaf carries out the dead hero's wishes and Beowulf is remembered for his brave actions.
