- "I freaked out... After the longest minute of my life, you cried... But one of the nurses took my hand, looked me in the eye, and said, 'Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.’”
- Starr is headed to her Uncle Carlos' neighborhood, and her mom, Lisa, is driving. Lisa notices that Starr is sad about Khalil's death, and that she thinks everything is her fault.
- To teach Starr an important lesson, Lisa brings up the fact that Starr wasn't breathing when she was born, and this shocks Starr.
- Lisa helps Starr understand that she did everything she could to help bring Khalil justice, and even if things still go bad, she shouldn't lose hope.
