- In earlier times the Etruscan kings from northern Italy ruled Rome. But around 509 B.C.E the Romans overthrew the Etruscans and started to rule instead and they created a new form of government called the republic. In this form of government, they have leaders elected so they can represent the people.
- We are the Plebeian consuls.
- The Patricians had all the power and rights while we the Plebiaens had little power, rights, and little say in the government, this didn't last long. In 494 B.C.E the struggle took a big turn, most of the population in Rome was Plebians angry over their lack of power and rights we marched out of the city. It was hard going out of the city but we did come back later since Rome was falling apart without us.
- We finally won the fight for equality and power.
- The Roman government had a drastic change because of us the Plebians' revolts. The patricians agreed to allow the plebians to elect officials. In 451 B.C.E the patricians agreed and the laws were published on Twelve tables. Finally, we got our power and rights.
- In 367 B.C.E there was a new law that stated that one or maybe two of the consuls should be Plebian, My parents and I were really happy when we heard this news, at last, we the Pleabians finally could have the same rights and power as the Patricians, now we don't have to fight for equality.
- In 287 B.C.E we the Plebians had finally earned the rights. After many years of me and my parents and other Pleabians struggling, we had finally won the fight for equality and rights between us and the patricians. I am happy that we have the same rights and power as the Patricians, now we don't have to struggle anymore, now we can all get along.
