- THE RISE OF THE THE ROMAN REPUBLIC: FROM A PLEBEIAN'S PERSPECTIVE
- If you were born a plebeian like me, we had know rights when we were born, though we were 95% of Romes population. We were the common people, but we still had to serve in the army. It was your average day as a plebeian in Rome until rumors starting going around about a protest against the patricians and I sure wanted to be apart of that so I went and asked almost every plebeian and ended up finding out those rumors were true.
- We were done with the patricians and there unfair ways. We knew we had to do something so we marched up a near by hill, knowing that without us the patricians wouldn't have an army, farms would be shut down, and so would shops. We were not going to return until they met are demands. Rome began to fall apart without us just as we planned then the patricians came to us with a compromise. It was amazing, we finally got rights. It probabaly was the greatest idea we ever came up with.
- ~Some years later~Another rumor began going around that some plebeians were going to go to the patricians and demand that they write the down the laws so they can't change them anymore. I waited days for it to happen but no one every did it, so I organized a group of people to go with me and demand that it was written down. The patricians agreed, I could only think they must be scared we would walk out again. Every plebeian was so excited that they could not make new laws to benefits them and only them. Everyone began thanking me and the group of people I organized. It was another successful day and an amazing accomplishment.
- Now that they couldn't change laws to benefit just them it made it much easier for are next right we wanted. We wanted two have at least one of the two consuls to be plebeian/one of us. So we brought it up with the patricians and after some debating and them still being scared of us walking out they agreed and we wrote down the new law on the twelve tables tablets. Now someone in Romans government was one us and would make laws that also benefited us. It was going to be awesome and extremely helpful.
