- It was the first day of junior high and, like every other kid in town El was notexited. Any other day she would have loved to go back to school but in the summer a group of new girls moved into town and have been making fun of El ever since. At first they were just calling her names, but just yesterday one of them tripped poor El and dumped their slushie on her head!
- Ohhhh, I wish I didn't have to go to school today
- Whats taking you so long up there, you don't want to be late for school!
- El rushed down the stairs- and without eatinganybreakfast -she rushed out the door.
- Bye mom gotta go!
- Ok honey, don't forget your lunch.
- El walked to school slowly, there had been a large pit in her stomach in the morning and the closer she got to school the larger it grew...
- I wonder why those girls are picking on me, I didn't do anything to them.
- ...by the time she arrived at school, it felt like the -at first small pit- in her stomach had turned into large black hole, that is sucking her up into a cold, dark world-- and there she saw them snickering and giggling. They where probably talking about El. She tried to walk by unseen but they spotted her...

- ...in classe later that day, there was a new student in El's english classe.
