- The narrator is talking to someone about how he is not crazy and how he is normal but he is really being crazy and do crazy things. He is also saying that he didn't do anything crazy and can tell you the whole story calmly.
- Falling Action
- The man started to open the door , and every night he opens it more and more and he stands there for hours at a time. He is waiting for his eyes to be open because every night they close when he opens the door. The one night his eyes were open the man shines a light into his eye.
- Resolution
- I did it! Look!
- He finally goes into the room and kills the man. He cuts up all of the body parts and starts to plan where to hid them. He knows he shouldn't have done it but he already did. He killed the old man.
- Theme
- He cuts up all of his body parts and hides them under the floor boards. He thinks he is smart fro hiding the body right where people walk in the house. He thinks they would never check the spot. The police go to his house to check around.
- The police go into the house to check for any evidence of the old man. The Speaker then starts to feel guilty and he think the old man still has a heart beat. The man can't take it anymore and tells the police that he was the one who did it and tells them to look under the floor boards.
- The theme of this story is never do something if you know it's wrong. If you know you can get caught and in trouble from doing something just don't do it.
