Climax
Hey... wait a minute...
The story is set in different places: the living room, the kitchen, and the grocery store. I believe this story took place in between the modern and older years.
Resolution
The conflict in the story is when Patrick announces to Mary that he is leaving her, and no longer wishes to be married to her. The second conflict is Mary's attempt to avoid being caught.
Characters
The rising action is when it is clear Patrick has something to tell Mary. The climax is when she whacks the back of his head with the leg of a lamb. This leads to the first falling action when she states that she's killed him. The second climax is when the detective sees the oven is on as this is when they are closest to discovering the murder weapon.
The resolution is implied by the final line, leading to an assumption that Mary will never be found because the murder weapon is missing. However, it ends with the irony of the police eating and commenting on the murder weapon.
The characters in this story are Patrick Maloney (the husband), Mary Maloney (the wife), Sam (the grocer), Jack Noonan (sergeant and friend of the family), O'Malley (policeman).
