On June 21, 1919, near the end of the Winnipeg General Strike, saw the event of the sad event called "Bloody Saturday." Two men were killed and 27 others hurt as strikers fought the Northwest Mounted Police. The strike began on May 15 as about 30,000 strikers took to the streets.
