  • Morelos (José María Morelos y Pavón)
  • He was a priest that shared some of the freedom ideals of Hidalgo. He had good military strategies and conquered most of the southern cities in New Spain for the insurgent movement. He also managed to escape the general Félix María Calleja.
  • In 1813, he dictated a document called "Sentimientos de la Nación" in which he expressed the desire for the independence and freedom, among other aspects.
  • In 1814, he organized a congress to write the Apatzingan Constitution which would give the insurgent movement the victory and the independence...
  • ....unfortunately, he was betrayed and captured by the Spanish authorities. He was threatened by the Inquisition and forced to reveal all the secret information about the military movement, which complicated things a lot for the independence war.
