Oh! HI Sofia ,How are you and why do you look so tensed
Hi Victoria ,I'm good .Actually ,I have my science activity and its topic is wastewater treatment plan and I can't understand even an inch of it
Don't worry ,I can explain it .1) First, Wastewater is collected from homes ,office and industry and then goes through bar screens where large objects like rags ,sticks are removed .2) Water then goes to a grit and sand removal tank .The speed of the incoming wastewater is decreased to allow sand ,grit and pebbles to settle down .
But ,what happens to the waste removed from the wastewater ??
Nice question !! .The wastes are are sent to the landfill for disposal .3) The water is then allowed to settle in a large tank which is sloped towards the middle .Solids like faeces are removed with a scraper .This is the sludge . There is a skimmer also that removes floatable solids like oil and grease .This cleared water is known as clarified water .4) Then ,air is pumped into clarified water to help anaerobic bacteria to grow .Bacteria consume human and food waste ,and other unwanted matter remaining in clarified water .
I know the last part !! .The water is removed from the top when the suspended microbes settle at the bottom as activated sludge .The water is removed by sand drying beds or machines .The dried sludge can be used as manure ,and nutrients to the soil .The treated water is then discharged into a water body ,and sometimes chlorination is done before releasing it .Thank you so much Victoria .I clearly understand the whole process now !!!
