- One thing that was a motivation for the explorers was gold.
- What else was a motivation?
- Another motivation was glory. Back then people were always trying to outdo other people.
- I can relate to that. You and me are always trying to outdo each other!
- The last motivation was God. The explorers wanted to spread Christianity..
- Were there any obstacles for the explorers?
- Yes actually, an example of one of their obstacles was poor maps and navigational tools.
- Back then they didn't have as many tools as we do today, right.
- Yes, another example is starvation and diseases.
- We don't almost ever have people in our tribe starve. We hunt we buffalo for food.
- The last example I will tell you before I have to go is fear of the unknown. This dragon/sea monster is an example of the unknown.
- I am scared of the unknown too!
