  • Miami in the 1970's
  • So this is the chief's office...I hope he has a good explanation to why he kept me in a cell.
  • Wow this cop has a good humor.
  • This is the story about a boy that has fled his one and only home in order to survive...
  • Hey, move it DRUG LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Is...this life. I risked my life by running away from my home and this is the life i get. Being blamed for some narcos freak seems very irrelevant.
  • Diego Fernando
  • Okay, you see I'm just a simple teenager that left his home country from harm's way.
  • Alright then, tell my why did you make your way into USA.
  • Your name?
  • One day, me and my familia walked and wouldto tell each other fun stories. My papa Hector, my mama Stephania and my older brother Luiz were all shot and killed. I miss them soo much but the only person who could have done the horrible deed is Pablo Escobar.
  • Today is your lucky day, the chief wants to see ya.
  • This better be the day that I leave this hell of prison.
  • I rushed to the door and closed it shut till the cost becomes clear.
  • After I left the city, I was scared of the outside world even though if I heard about it before when I was still a nino. But I had to build up my courage and seized my opportunity to leave.
  • After the massacre, i ran back home for safety and I noticed another gunshot...
  • As soon as I started my journey, I was tired but I never gave up on my goal and kept moving...
  • As soon it was clear I layed on my knees then started to weep after my big loss, I had no one to cheer me, I had no one on who I could rely on.
  • I understand, tell my the reason why you left your country. you have an hour from now, you may start...
  • I...I... don' believe it my familia... gone, I will never see them again. My papa, mama and Luiz... Just...
  • I had to build up my courage to move somewhere, away from this carnage, this wasn't home, this was a nightmare come to life...
  • I lost my family that day, their blood filled the ground, their bodies lying on the ground peacefully, I cried for help but no one came...
  • 3 weeks later...
  • As soon as I heard the gunshot I knew they were Pablo Escobar's gunmen. They were getting closer, my mind was set on one thing and it was running away from these freaks.
  • I ran ran and ran away as far as I could to find a new place I could call home. Until I heard another gunshot but the narcos were near...
  • As soon as I reached San Jose, the only objective was to get to the nearest bus station for the long ride to mexico.
  • The only thing I remember when I was in the city was that it was so polluted there was a lot of gas, the air was so hot and gassy.
  • Alright Diego, you can do this...Just follow the road to a safer place...Lets GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • When I found the nearest station I sat down in relief. That day I had the biggest headache I've ever had, I was hungry, thirsty but I never gave up on my goal.
  • As I followed the road, I was headed to the border between South America and the USA...
  • As soon as I got there, the big walk began...
  • As soon as I got into the bus all I felt was that I had to get to the only place that I call home.
  • After many countless days, I was relieved of the fact that I'm getting closer to a safer place than Colombia.
  • All right this is it I've got to keep moving towards the target...
  • I...Finally made it to Costa Rica...Just a few hours more then I'm there...
  • 3 months later...
  • I was stuck at sea, my vision was blurry, I was not resting until I saw buildings which meant it was a town, it looked safe, clean and how a home should look like. From that day on all I've felt was relief. All I can say in my head was that "I made it home".
  • 50 hours later...
  • It was in the middle of the night in Mexico, I had no place to rest and to conserve my energy for the next day . All I did was think about how much I miss familia and my old home back in Colombia.
  • Oh mama, oh papa, oh Luiz. I lost everyone that day,we were happy until the police pulled a move that angered one of greatest druglords in history.
  • There are many options, let me see... hmmm... Wait!!!!!!!! there is a boat over there, looks unused. Well guess I could use it to get to the other side.
  • The next day, I went to the port and thought that I need a way to get to the US because all I heard about the border was that it was just as bad as the one in Colombia but much worse.
  • When I got into the city, I've received a very unpleasant welcome from one your men, he instantly assumed I was a narcos that is going to spread drug addiction in the USA.
  • Ya here to bring drugs to our proud country and turn it into a giant pill, not today young Narcos. You are under arrest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Alright, today is a new which means I can come up with bright ideas to get to the place I've been looking for to call home...
  • On your knees.
  • Present day...
  • Come on Diego you will reach your new home... Just don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • As the days pass the journey was harsh and tough I spent so many days to get to this point. I crossed storms, I was unable to sleep, eat or drink for the next weeks that were coming.
  • As I kept moving, sharks kept on circling the boat waiting for the opportunity to get me when I was not looking, it was dangerous but I still kept an eye out...
  • Now you understand?
  • Mr. Diego you are free to go...
