- "Boss the owner?"
- "George Milton""His name is Lennie Small."
- "And what's yours?"
- "And I got you, you lose me every job I get!"
- Candy tells Lennie and George about everyone at the farm. Candy tells what happen during Christmas. Candy also tells them what and who is the boss.
- "I don't like mean little guys!"
- George and Lennie have an interview with the boss. Lennie repeated one word that George had said about Lennie. Lennie tells that he forgets.
- George yells at Lennie because Lennie always gets in trouble. George complains that if he didn't have Lennie, George would live happily.
- "He didn't do nothing to you."
- "Well, next time you answer when you're spoke to, then."
- Candy explains to George about Curley and how crazy Curley can be. George also thinks that Curley is crazy. Candy also tells George that Curley has a wife.
- George explains to Candy about Lennie. George explains to Candy that Lennie is a strong big man but acts like a child.
- Curley makes a threatening posture to Lennie. Curley meets George and Lennie. George told Lennie to not talk to him.
