- May 13th, 1862-Amid The Civil War The confederate captain and his men are about to rest in the town.
- Dock!
- We see Robert Smalls a slave who is about to make his escape with the other slaves.
- Yes sir!
- Me and the men are going to the town to get some rest you stay her and watch the ship
- Once the captain and his men are out of sight we see that Robert has changed into the captains outfit as the other slaves begin to take the ship
- Yes sir!
- Alright men we need to get a move on so we can all be free lets get moving
- Yes sir!
- We see the ship begin to move slowly but surely away from the pier with Robert steering.
- We see Robert Sailing the ship but down below...
- The crew members are afraid of being caught.
- What if we get caught the sheer thought of it terrifies me .
- If they find us they will surely beat us!
