- Mt. Pinatubo eruption has been recorded as second of the largest terrestrial eruption that caused a widespread ashfall that almost covered the entire island of Luzon. John Jack Wigley,the main character was no longer living in Angeles City when the volcano erupted. He was in the Manila that time working at the Pizza Hut Harrizon Plaza as part of the management trainee.
- He was staying in a two bedroom apartment with his co - worker Ed Calupitan. He didn't gave attention to the news and warnings, because he never know that theres a volcano in Zambales Range, he only knew about the Mt. Arayat.
- Where are you going?I am so worried about you, where is ate and her family? Are they okay
- They're all okay, thank God I'm going to Dau to give this to your ate.
- He went to see a movie entitled "Hihintayin kita sa langit" which is the main characters are Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta a very known couple that time. As he finished watching movie, he noticed that there is a small particles that are falling from above, he noticed that there is this grey substance everywhere and as it fell in his skin it feels like it was an ash in an ash tray. He decided to go in his hometown, Angeles City, Pampanga.
- Hurry up! The river gets deeper in the afternoon, Let's go!
- While looking at those barkers, suddenly he thought that Filipinos are really unbelievable, because even in time of disaster they still manage to put up some "pagkakakitaan".He felt guilty because he caused the barker to such pain and suffering on carrying him, he regretted his decision that he should just crossed the river like the other men, he also noticed that he was the only man being carried, most of them are women and elders.
- They are arguing to each other about how dangerous crossing in the river. He even argued that, it is too dangerous to cross, bu then her mother insisted that she is not that old to be afraid
- For him it was really unbelievable that his mother is not afraid to cross the river, but the worst is he was asked to come with her.
