  • The liver makes bile (bile is a liquid that breaks down food in the stomach)The gallbladder stores the bile
  • The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food. The pancreas regulates blood sugar.
  • The small intestines are 21 feet long. This is where most of the digestion takes place.  The small intestines take nutrients from the food. Food can last from 8-12 hours.
  • The large intestine is where water is being absorbed from the food. The rectum stores the waste.
