Storyboard Text

  • I have a poison drink. You two will drink it first, if needed. Then we will do the same.
  • Let's stay positive for the next days! we can do this!
  • During the Vietnam war, the brave 4 year old Tan Le urgently needed to flee to Australia for a better life. Accompanying her on the journey was her grandmother, mother and little sister. Unfortunately this dangerous war caused the death of Tan Le's grandfather by the communists of North Vietnam, although Tan and her sister never faced him in real life. This was probably the biggest decision of their lives.
  • NOO!!!
  • Tan Le and her family silently began to flee from Vietnam. They camouflaged as a fishing vessel to avoid getting caught on the borders of the South China Sea. For protection, her mother carried a bottle of poison, getting ready for whatever happens.
  • Yes, mother!
  • So this is where we are staying.
  • The journey to Australia was never easy. Passengers would fear for the pirates, as well as rape and death. The whole trip lasted for 5 days and nights, so all they had to do was stay positive until they meet their destination.
  • Okay, mother.
  • Even though the voyage only took both 5 days and nights, it didn't stop one passengers death. Tan Le sadly witnessed this horrible event.
  • After the voyage, everybody settled in a refugee camp and stayed there for 3 months before finally landing in Footscray, Melbourne, a place for immigrants.
  • This is only temporary. Let's just stick to what we have now.
  • Once they have set foot on their new home, Tan Le and her family decided to start a new life and needed to find shelter. They were penniless, so they knew they had to work extremely hard to provide for Tan and her little sister's education and food.
  • Let's go find a house that we can afford!
