  • The Story of Beowulf
  •
  •
  • There once was a kingdom called Heorot, which was prosperous and had a reliable king. Due to their success, they would party day and night. A demon grew restless from the noise of the parties, coming each night to kill some of the men to silence them.
  •
  • After many days of this, a hero arrived to save them from this beast. His name was Beowulf and he said he would kill the demon with his bare hands. He and the demon fought when the demon came to make his kill and Beowulf tore off his arm and held it for the whole kingdom to see. The foul creature then ran to his den and died. A few nights of celebration of Beowulfs victory ensued, causing the Grendels mother to come steal her sons arm back and take Unferth's right hand man to kill him.
  •
  • Beowulf then ventured out into the swamps to find Grendel's mother and slay her as well. It took him nearly a full day to float down into her underwater lair. The sword that Unferth had given him was no match for her and he had to use a sword crafted for killing giants. The slayed her and then cut off Grendels head, carrying it back to Hrothgar to prove that the threat was gone.
  •
  • After Beowulf's second victory he returned home to his people, the King promising him the throne once he passed. When the king passed Beowulf became a powerful and great ruler who protected his people. A new danger arose however, A dragon that had some of its treasure stolen began burning down parts of the kingdom as revenge.
  • Beowulf pledged to protect his people from the mighty beast. He ventured with his soldiers to the dragon's lair, leaving his men outside the entrance. Beowulf fought with the dragon and was close to defeat, all but one of his men retreating. The man that stayed was Wiglaf. He stayed and fought by Beowulf's side until the dragon was defeated.
  • Beowulf was mortally wounded and asked Wiglaf to bring some of the dragon's treasure so he could see what he had won for his people before passing away. His dying wishes were that his people put him in a pyre to send him wherever God wanted him to go and to bring honor to his name.
