  • Mercantilism: The main point of mercantilism was for the British government to control the colonies trade and this angered colonists because they didn't have any say in the trade transactions. This began to show the British taking power over them.
  • CAUSE #2 (1773)
  • The Sugar Act: This act was passed in 1764 by the British Parliament to pay off the 7 years war. this act created a tax on sugar, wine, indigo, and molasses. Colonists were forced to pay tax on these items against their will. Colonists feared the British starting to take power.
  • REACTION #2 (1773)

  • The Boston Massacre: Colonists were very upset with what the British were doing. The taxes, troops, and the disregard the British had for the colonists angered them, so they revolted and the solders opened fire on the colonists. 5 were killed.
  • The Tea Act: This law gave one British company the right to control all the tea trade in the colonies. The British were still trying to seize control and the colonists weren't having it, it was just like the other Acts.

  • The Boston Tea Party: In an attempt of revolting a group of colonists dressed as Native Americans got on 3 tea ships anchored at the Boston harbor. They dumped 300 chests of tea into the sea. The British were extremely angered and the Boston harbor was closed.
