- Um hi I have a question... What is tax exactly? It's here on the bill.
- Oh well how much does it take off and I can help you solve it.
- Oh thanks. What if I have a coupon for this place?
- Okay, let's calculate your total with the discount. I'll walk you through it.
- It takes off 30%.
- Okay first you should change the percentage to a decimal.
- Okay so I have a coupon for 30% so that as a decimal would give us (0.30).
- Now that you got that we move on to multiplying the original price and the decimal.
- Okay so $27 for the shrimp pasta ($24) and the sweet tea ($2). That gives us 27 x 0.30= $8.10.
- Okay good, now lastly subtract your new number by the total of your bill.
- Okay I got $8.10 as the %30 so $27-$8.10= $18.90. Thanks!!
