Storyboard Text

  • Hey Julie! I have to leave practice early to go with the kids I'm tutoring.
  • I'm teaching them about square roots and cube roots.
  • Can you help me because I'm struggling with that at school.
  • Oh okay. What are you going to teach them Morgan?
  • Of course! Let's go to the bleachers.
  • Alright. Let's go!
  • Okay, first the basics. A square root is a number when multiplied by itself gives the original number. For example, 4 is the square root of 16 because when multiplied by itself it gives you 16.
  • Cube root is a little different. Cube root is one of the three identical factors of a number that is the product of those factors.
  • Okay, I understand square and cube roots now.
  • Give me an example of square root and explain.
  • That's correct. You catch on quickly!
  • Okay, so the square root of 64 would be 8 because if you multiply 8 by itself it would give you 64!
  • You really paid attention! Now give me an example of cube root and explain.
  • Perfect! I think you understand it now.
  • For example, the cube root of 64 would be 4 because when you multiply 4 by itself three times it will give you 64.
  • Thank you, I now understand square roots and cube roots!
  • Glad I could help! See you at the next practice.
