  • October 2, 1835, Gonzales, Texas. Mexican leaders (Ugartachea and 100 Mexican soldiers). Texan leaders (Colonel John Moore and 160 Texians) settlers (Texians) became enthusiasticabout war with Mexico. Texas defeat the Mexican at the battle.
  • The Siege
  • San Felipe de Austin, November, 1835. The purpose was to discuss Texas plans for dealing with Mexico. Pro War vs. Pro Peace debate.
  • The Fall of the Alamo
  • Texas was defending rights under the Mexican constitution 1824. Created a provisional government. Henry Smith was the Governor. Created a professional army; named Sam Houston Commander-in-chief. Authorized a 2 ship navy.
  • Declaration of Independence
  • San Antonio (February 22 to March 6 1836). Command: William B. Travis. 150 to 200 Texians. About 1500 Mexican troops bombarded/ sorrounded the Alamo
  • March 6, 1836. 200 Texians and Tejanos. 1800 Mexican troops. Defenders were either killed in battle or executed.
  • March 2, 1836, Washington (Texas). Drafted by George Childress. 59 delegates. Modeled after the U.S. DEC of Ind.
