  • He decided to come to America because he wanted to witness the glory and experience the war for himself. However, the king did not approve of him leaving France. But, with the help of the Comte de Broglie and Baron Johan de Kalb, he set up a journey to finally go to America.
  • Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette was a French aristocrat and military officer that made sure that his troops were "long-lasting" and in their best possible traits.
  • He joined the American Revolutionary war because he was inspired by the soldiers in the war, and he did it when he was 14, in the year 1771
  • He was named General because of his patriotism and his ranking. He fought in Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Rhode Island and the results were victorious. He was also in the Battle of Banner Hill (Bunker Hill), and Valley Forge.
  • After the wars he went back to France where he helped lead the French Revolution later in his life. He then died a few years later, and the people in French were grateful for a man who risked his life, family, and money to fight for his countries.
