- Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a princess...

- One evening, the mother chooses a fairy tale read to the little boy before sleep. The story talks about a brave prince who fights through thorns and braves obstacles to save the sleeping princess trapped inside a tower.
- The next day, the little boy sees the coiled spikes on his wall and was reminded of the thorns the prince in the story had to face on his quest to save the princess. The little boy was inspired to do the same, and so he did.
- The little boy became tangled in the spikes and his clothes were immediately stained red with his blood. The maid and gardener came running in a panic as the little boy's shrill screams pierced the air. The parents arrived soon after, concerned and scared for their son, and together they carried the little boy into the house.
