People Power and the Color of Freedom
On February 20, 1986, Ferdinand E. Marcos declared victory. Protesters and legendary organizations led the masses to vent their displeasure over Marcos' wrongdoing. The first People Power Revolution aimed to end an oppressive regime's corruption, voice the majority's grievances, and restore Filipino democracy.

Ferdinand Marcos, President and dictator, had been in power for 21 years and had used the government to advance his self-interest, greed, and lavish lifestyle.The legacy served as a source of hope and pride for Filipinos, demonstrating that the will of the Filipinos prevailed. The People Power March drew over 2,000,000 civilians who wished to reclaim our democracy. The People Power Revolution took place from February 22nd to February 25th, 1986, and was particularly significant in that it united people of all political stripes against Marcos. In the aftermath of EDSA People Power, democracy was reestablished. But democracy has been questioned.
