- Stage direction: Downstage right; In the scene Capulet welcomes everyone to the party he's throwing. He tells them to enjoy it and have fun.
- Capulet: Welcome gentlemen!
- ACT 1 SCENE 5
- As a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear-
- Romeo catches sight of Juliet and is stunned by her beauty. He is instantly attracted to her. Theme: Love at first sight
- Romeo: What lady's that which doth enrich the hand Of yonder knight?
- Servingman: I know not, sir.
- Tybalt: Now, by the stock and honor of my kin, To strike him dead I told it not a sin.
- Tybalt sees Romeo and recognizes him, as a Montague. He becomes mad and wants to fight him but Capulet order him not to do anything.
- Content thee, gentle coz, let him alone.
- Nurse: Madam, your mother craves a word with you.
- Juliet: Then have my lips the sin that they have took.
- Stage direction: Center Stage; Romeo then approaches Juliet for the first time. Eventually they end up kissing. But then they are interrupted by her Nurse.
- Thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purged.
- Romeo asks the Nurse about who Juliet's mother is. To his horror he finds out that they are Capulet's.
- Her mother is the lady of the house.
- What is her mother?
- Is she a capulet?
- Could you help a guy out by please giving me her digits?
- That doesn't stop Romeo from feeling the way he feels about her though. Because they experienced love at first sight. So he asks the Nurse for Juliet's phone number. (Modernized story and made up phone number).
