Storyboard Text

  • Hello, today we are going to be going through a day at the Circus Maximus. Let's get started!
  • When I first got to the race, there was a procession going through the streets of rome. After the procession, the statues of the gods were moved to the pulvinar
  • The horses were lined up to start at the carceres. The presiding magistrate dropped the white cloth, also known as the mappa from the box he sits in, which means the race is beginning!
  • As I watched the race, I saw a charioteer get close to the euripus, which is an area in the center of the track.
  • As I admired the Altar of Consus, the God of fertility and horses, a racer approached the metae, but then crashed into it! There was a naufragium, which is a shipwreck.
  • As the race ended I left the cavea, which is the place where I was watching the race. I was in the third tier, so I had to stand. Luckily there was a wall protecting us.
