  • Mice: Mice are an important symbol for the story and they can be attributed several diferent meanings. First of all, they symbolize weakness, and when Lennie kills them by accident that is a symbol of strenght vs, weakness, although not intentionally imposed. They also symbolize false hope (really represented in the plot), with a special conection to Lennie's character.
  • Slim: Slim is a representation of an "ideal person" at the time. He is one of the only characters in the novel that does not suffer from any type of discrimination. He is charming and charismatic, and he is also good looking. We can see how even if he is in the same situation of the other characters his life is easier in some way.
  • Curley's wife: This character is also a representation of discrimination and prejudices.. She is percived as "impure" and "trouble" by all the other men, and she is discriminated an isolated because she is a women. The other characters also always expect the worst of her and she is made to have a "dislikeable" personality. She is a representation of how patriarchy percieves women and how they were treated at the time.
  • Aunt Clara: Aunt Clara symbolizes Lennie's past, and she helps to build a backstory for the character. She also acts like his conscience at times, like in the final chapter of the novel.
