Hello ladies and gentleman, my name is Charles Darwin and I'd like to thank you all for coming to presentation on how cognitive abilities evolved is humans!
I'd like to start off by explaining natural selection. In simple words it can be described as survival of the fittest.
As I'm sure everyone is aware, my theory of where humans came from is that we evolved from apes. With this, people start to ask where humans got certain cognitive abilities from. Let's take selective attention for example.
If way back when evolution began some mammals had selective attention and some didn't then the one's with selective attention were more capable of surviving in their environment. We know this because today humans have selective attention.
Overall, humans have all of the cognitive abilities that we have because the ones that were best for us to survive stuck with us. The ones that wouldn't have helped us to survive went away by mammals with those abilities dying and not passing them on.
I'd like to thank everyone for listening to my talk on cognitive abilities and where they came from!
