Ariana and Anthony are so excited to begin their journey as parents. They read in their parenting book that a babies ear begins to function by the 7 month mark so they enjoy speaking to their baby, Scarlett. Speech and Language acquisition is important when it comes to brain development.

The train goes choo choo
Ariana speaks to Scarlett and greets her for the day. Scarlett responds the only way she knows how and her mother responds. During Scarlett's first year of life her brain will absorb a lot of new information. Early exposure to speech and language encourages language development.
Wow! Look at all those apples. So many red apples in that tree.
Look at that beautiful bird. That is a hummingbird, can you say hummingbird?
Anthony takes over during meal time. He uses a very expressive tone to get Scarlett excited for her meal. He asks her questions and narrates meal time. Explaining what she is doing helps Scarlett learn how words work and what they mean.

Anthony and Ariana take Scarlett for a walk outdoors. They point out what they see for Scarlett and use descriptive words. They speak to Scarlett like they are having a conversation so that she will respond with speech sounds.

Anthony and Ariana wind down the day by reading a book with Scarlett in the outside patio. Ariana points out the animals, colors, and pictures. Anthony participates by making the animal sounds to help Scarlett recognize sounds with the animals.

Before bedtime, Anthony and Ariana bathe Scarlett and sing songs. Singing songs also helps boost Scarlett's vocabulary, language skills, and assists her in picking up sounds within words. Ariana and Anthony try to sing the same songs every night to help Scarlett master words and understand them. Repetition is key.
