- Down syndrome is when there is an extra chromosome added to your 21st pair of chromosome
- So you are telling me that it is possible for that to happen. how?
- Yes, in meiosis II the chromosomes split in half so either the sperm or egg cell chromosomes did not split in half when the zygote is formed the 21st pair of chromosome is going to have 3 chromosomes
- so that means that they would have 47 chromosomes instead of 46
