- The idea of WW1 had been developing in Europe in 1914. It was starting through rising tensions that Europe was having, in which included militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism.
- Europe was trying to find a form of protection from enemy forces by forming alliances within it's nation. There were two separate alliances. The Triple Alliance in which united Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. As well as the Triple Entente which united France, Russia, and Great Britain. Europe hoped that this would keep the peace.
- Franz Ferdinand the archduke of Austria-Hungary visited the Bosnian city of Sarajevo during the time of these rising tensions. Him and his wife were shot in they're car by a young Serbian man named Gavrilo Princip.
- This tragedy had lead to Austria-Hungry declaring war on Serbia in July of 1914. This event had caused the start of the war.
- There were two main sides to be on in the war. One being the Central Powers and the other being the Allied Powers. The Central powers had consisted of Germany and Austria-Hungary, and the Allied Powers had consisted of Great Britain, France, Russia, and Serbia.

- During the War Propaganda had struck on both sides influencing the public's opinions on their standing in the war as well as their views on their enemies.
