- 1947 April 10 Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, thereby breaking the modern color line. Jackie Robinson's first game was 5 days later on April 15th
- On December 9th 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested in Montgomery Alabama for refusing to move to the back of the bus. This led to a successful citywide bus boycott.
- 1960 february 1st 4 black students from Carolina Agricultural and tech collage staged a sit in at a segregated lunch counter. The 4 students where refused service but were still allowed to sit.

- 1963 April 16th, Martin luther king Jr was arrested in Birmingham and wrote a letter arguing that individuals have the moral duty to disobey the injustice laws.
