Ani's body is prepared for the afterlife during the mummification process, where he is buried with a papyrus scroll called The Book Of The Dead, full of magic spells and prayers that will help him through the Underworld.
42 Assessor Gods
Ani transverses the obstacles and fights the monsters of the Underworld using the magic contained within his Book Of The Dead in order to pass into the afterlife.
Weighing The Heart
Ani repels all the monster attacks, eventually reaching the HallOf Ma'at, goddess of truth and justice, where he will face his final challenge.
Visiting Osiris
Ani is judged by 42 assessor gods, who he must convince that he led a righteous life. Ani approaches each one, addresses them by name and declares a sin he had not committed. Ani's scarab beetle amulet allows him to lie to the gods as it does not let his heart betray him.
Ani's heart is finally weighed by the god Anubis, against a pure ostrich feather to reveal whether he is truly pure and worthy of the afterlife. If the heart is heavier than the feather, it is devoured by the monstrous Ammit, but Ani's heart is pure.
Ani is taken by the Sun God, Ra, to Osiris, the god of the Underworld, who finally gives him approval to enter the afterlife where he remained for all eternity.
