Shay's rebellion

- The soldiers who were promised a $20,000 salary after the war was over. However, America soon became in debt
- Soldiers were furious when the government couldn't pay for their war wages. They instead asked the soldiers for money
- Where's my money?!
- National government didn't have much power which meant they couldn't collect taxes. Each state then taxed people in order to pay America's debt.
- Whoops!
- Citizens were then ordered to pay taxes in silver and gold in order to repay the debt. Daniel Shay was not too happy about this though, including other citizens.
- Daniel shay then led an army that burned court houses, and attacked tax collectors in 1786. He demanded them to take action
- This impacted the courth house so much that they eventually gave in on some demands.
