- In 1949, the communist party, led by Mao Zedong emerged victorious

- Under the lead of Mao Zedong, the Chinese government was molded into the running of a communistic party.
- Great Leap Forward
- Mao introduced a 5 year plan in 1953, which focused on keeping foreign imports to a minimum and rapidly increasing the outputs of heavy industry
- The 5 year plan was complete in late 1957, overall being deemed a success.
- Mao's second 5 year plan, also known as the great leap forward was introduced in 1959, hoping to make a large advancement in the production of grains, iron, and copper.
