- Nick, this is my girl Myrtle.

- We are introduced to Nick Caraway, a young man from Chicago that has moved to West Egg, New York, in invest in bond business.
- New York City

- I retract my previous thought.
- Nick goes to visit his cousin Daisy Buchanan, as well as her husband, Tom. It is also here where we meet Jordan, a golf player. We also learn that Tom is seeing another woman, and it is inferenced that Tom is abusing Daisy.
- West Egg
- Tom takes Nick to the Valley of Ashes, a mining town nearby, where we are introduced to Tom's mistress, Myrtle Wilson, who is also cheating on her husband George, who is a mechanic.
- Gatsby's House
- WHAT?!?!
- Mm... this is kind of awkward, but, I'm Gatsby.
- Nick, Tom, and Myrtle go to a party in New York City, hosted by Myrtle's sister Catherine, where things start to get crazy. Oh, and Tom hits Myrtle, hence why she is crying.
- Nick is invited to a fancy party next door, at his neighbor Jay Gatsby's house.
- The party is in full swing, with lots of drinking and dancing and food. It is also here we meet the title character, Gatsby.
