- Introducing Main Character: Peppi
- Peppi moves to a new school
- Peppi is a new student in middle school and her first interaction with someone was bumping into a boy that was from the science club and everyone called her "Nerder's girlfriend". Also, Peppi is talented in drawing and joins the art club. Later on, they have to compete against each other to win a spot in a big event for their clubs, and they both have to come up with an idea to make people want to vote for their club.
- The competition begins
- Penelope “Peppi” Torres is the main protagonist in Awkward. She is a member of The Art Club and attends Berrybrook Middle School. She's a very sweet and loyal person. She is also has a talent and passion for drawing. Her best and closest friends throughout the book are Tessa Winston and Nina Badyal which are also part of the art club.
- Sabotoge?
- Please take it! I promise to take it back tomorrow once I figure out what to do about this!
- Peppi is extremely nervous to go to school on her first day. She doesn't know anyone and hopes to make friends. She bumps into a boy named Jamie. She is super embarrassed and pushes him away from her. Peppi joins the art club and learns that they are in a competition against the science club to win a spot in a school event. The only problem was is that Jamie is part of the science club. That was awkward.
- The Lesson they learned: Friendship and working together in the key
- All of the kids in the clubs are very competitive. The science club is making a rocket which you use with a remote controller. While the art club is making comic strips for the school newspapers. The planner for the art club Marbella was getting worried that the science club's idea was better. She impulsively stole the remote control when no one was looking. Without it, the science club's project wouldn't work.
- Marbella steals the remote control that the science club had to use for their project, and begged Peppi to take it. She does but attempts to return it to the science club without anybody knowing it was them. Jamie caught Peppi putting it back and thanked her for returning it. Then, the principal made an announcement that none of the clubs would get a spot because it was bringing them apart.
- Uh, okay I will.
- They made a plan to make a project with the two groups together so the school can give the spot back, and it worked! Everyone agreed to work together. The school loved it and the two groups got a spot but they had to share. They didn't have a problem with it and it brought them together and they were friends now.
