  • Unpopularity of Charles l
  • The Parliament created the Petition of Right but Charles l is completely ignoring it and ruling however he wants!!
  • I agree, and he's forcing rituals on the Church of England, so many puritans have left because of his ignorance!!
  • The English Civil War
  • We will fight for our rights!!!
  • You will obey the King and follow his orders!!
  • Overthrow of Charles l
  • Surrender King Charles l, You are to be executed due to your negligence to the Petition of Right and you poor job at ruling the country fairly.
  • Parliament passed the Petition of Right in 1628 which limited the Kings power of taxation , imprisonment of citizens, quarter troops, and the ability to institute Martial laws. Charles l did follow the Petition for a short while until he later began ignoring it. He attempted at forcing ritual upon the Church of England, which caused many Puritans to flee to America.
  • Restoration of Stuart Monarchy

  • Due to Charles l actions, the complaints grew so vast until the point that the Civil War was declared between the Roundheads( the Parliamentary Forces) and the Cavaliers/ Royals( the supporters of the king).
  • The Glorious Revolution
  • What a glorious Revolution, barely any deaths and we have restored the revolution! HURRAH!!!
  • The New Model Army, created by Oliver Cromwell, contained extreme Puritans known as the Independents. After the Army developed, they quickly used their strength and control to good use to execute King Charles l.
  • English Bill of Rights.
  • By decree, we are proud to announce that the English Bill of Rights is now an official document!
  • After Cromwell, the founder of the New Model Army, died the army finally realized how unpopular they were. They decided to restore the monarchy in 1660 by making Charles ll the new king. Although the monarchy was restored, the parliament still held the power they gained from the revolution.
  • HOORAY!!! OUR NEW KING!!!
  • The Glorious revolution started when English Nobles invited William of Orange, the dutch leader, to invade France. When they invaded they marched all the way to London and he sent forth his Armies. In the end there was very little deaths and it was a successful and Glorious Revolution. They just needed to decide who the next monarch would be.
  • The English Bill of Right helped create a government that went by the rule of law, which was where the laws of a country had to be obeyed by every citizen. This made sure that all people including the Kings and Queens would have to follow the laws. This meant that there was no longer an absolute monarchy in place and a constitutional monarchy was now the way of ruling.
