  • During the bread shortage, the price increased for the cost of flour. This caused many issues for the peasants and it caused the near collapse of the french budget.
  • Estate General Meeting/ Tennis Court Oath
  • Due to the inflation on the price of wheat, buying bread was near to impossible. Especially after the heightened tax price. There were fights and riots where people stormed local bakeries just to get food.
  • Storming of the Bastille
  • The ideas of the enlightenment thinkers wer often quoted by the revolutionary leaders. This caused the ideas of enlightenment to be an underlying background to the revolution as a whole.
  • Women's March to Versailles
  • The estates decided to vote for what type of government they would like. Each estate was allowed to vote as a whole, making it positive that the third estate would always be outnumbered. They declared that they wanted to vote individually within the estates. When they arrived, the doors to the location were locked. They ended up meeting on a tennis cour
  • The revolution just began after the countries breaking point. The citizens of France raided the Bastille for gun powder so they could fight back. Many people on both the Royal and peasant side lost their lives.
  • A large group of woman marched to Versailles to force Louis XVI to accept the decree. They yelled that all of their children were starving due to the bread shortage and they finally convinced Louis XVI to allow the decree to be passed.
