Storyboard Text

  • "True! -- nervous – dreadfully nervous, I had been and am; but why will yousay that I am mad? Hearken! And observe how calmly I can tell you the wholestory."
  • The Narrator first explains that he used to care for an old man whom he loved. However there was something that the narrator could not ignore, and it was one of the old mans eye. It resembled that of a vulture, a pale blue eye, with a film over it. The narrator decides that he needs to kill the old man in order to relive his emotional pain.
  • The story begins with the narrator telling us that he is a mad man. He then prepairs to tells us a story that explains his madness.
  • Every night, at about midnight, the narrator turns the latch of the old mans door and openes it. With a dimly lit latern by the his side, the narrator stalks the old man in his sleep.
  • On the 8th night, The narrator was more careful in his encouter with the old man. When he slightly turned on his lantern, the light fell onto the old mans vulture eye which was wide open. The narrator got mad and With a loud yell, he threw the lantern and leapedonto the old man who shrieked only once. The narrator dragged the old man to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him which killed him.
  • To hide the old mans corpse, the narrator cut him up and hid his remains under the floor boards. At 4 am, the cops came over becuse a neighbor caelled them overhearing the old man screaming. The narrator tells the cops that the old man is on vacation and invites the cops into search the house. when the cops find nothing, they sit down and chat with the narrator.
  • As the narrator was talking to the cops he starts to imagine hearing a faint heartbeat commingfrom beneath the floor boards. As the heart beat gets louder and louder, it drives the narrator more insanse. He talks to the cops in a louder tone as the guilt washes over him. When the narrator couldn't take it anymore, he tears up the floor boards and shows the cops the heart of the old man which wasn't beating.
